Get your flu shot!!

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends getting a flu vaccine every year. It is especially important to get one if you have a weakened immune system, are 65 years old or older, or have underlying health problems such as heart disease, chronic lung disease, or diabetes. We encourage you to schedule your flu vaccine today with your doctor or local pharmacy. If you choose to go to your local pharmacy, be sure to take your Funds’ health card. We also encourage you to talk with your doctor about any other vaccines you and your family may need. Call the Funds Call Center at 1-800-291-1425, Option 2, if you have any questions. Staff may also be able to help you with transportation should you need a ride to get a flu vaccine.

The United Mine Workers of America Health and Retirement Funds

The United Mine Workers of America Health and Retirement Funds (the "Funds") is a group of multi-employer plans that provide health and pension benefits to retired coal miners and their eligible dependents. The Funds was created in the White House in 1946 in a contract between the United Mine Workers of America (“UMWA”) and the Federal Government. Since that year, the UMWA and Bituminous Coal Operators’ Association, Inc. (“BCOA”) have negotiated periodically over employee benefits for coal miners, retirees, and their dependents. At present, the Funds provides benefits to over 70,000 beneficiaries.
